Tight End U
A position of strength throughout the Jim Donnan and Mark Richt head coaching eras, GEORGIA is absolutely loaded at tight end this season. Sophomore Orson Charles is a wideout in a tight end’s body. He gets downfield and gets open, and his experience of synching with young quarterback Aaron Murray dates back to high school, at Plant in Tampa. Though Charles is a premium talent, he has been thus far unable to wrestle the majority of playing time from steady junior Aron White – the offensive hero of our bowl game win last season. Also a junior, Bruce Figgins weighs in at around 270 pounds and is thusly primarily used in power blocking situations, although he does have good hands when called upon to catch. Sophomore Arthur Lynch looks ready to contribute and is a versatile player, possessing good size and receiving skills. Look for two tight and maybe even three of these guys to be on the field at the same time in various formations, and look for Orson Charles to play in the slot a whole lot. With our talent and depth at fullback and tight end, UGA may align much more multiply this season than in seasons past.
