Game Day in ATL
ESPN’s College GameDay show may have taken a flyer on Atlanta this season in order to sit in front of Jerry Jones’ football mansion and wait for LSU-Orgeon tonight, but here in the only real capital of the South it is all about the DAWGS. Boise State has lost two games in three years, while UGA dropped seven last year, after dropping five, after dropping three. That three-loss season was off to a good start until BAMA had their SEC coming out party ‘Tween the Hedges. UGA came out flat that day, nearly made a dynamic comeback, never recovered. And we tumbled from a Nat’l #2 at year prior’s end and a preseason consensus #1 all the way to a final #10, and even lost to an average football program named GA Tech…in Athens. It’s Saturday…in Atlanta. Home to the most UGA fans of any city in the world. A great mecca of Red-and-Black, amidst the only truly major U.S. urban forest and prettiest sprawling skyline architecture. Home is where the heart is, and if we don’t play with an incredible amount of heart tonight – we will lose. We were within a 4th quarter touchdown of all seven opponents which beat us last season, and we could not close them out. We had the talent but not the resolve. Time to solve all that and get Murray’s first big win. Richt is 8-2 lifetime in the ATL as head coach, and he must find a way to exceed the 80% plateau tonight.
