SEC East Race
Though the Dawgs dropped a conference opening 45-42 heartbreaker to defending SEC East winner S. Carolina, UGA still has valid divisional hopes. Georgia does not face the currently ranked and undefeated SEC West teams: LSU, BAMA, Arkansas this regular season. Tennessee appears to have no running game and just lost by double digits to the team picked to finish 3rd in the East, the Florida Gators. In conference, Florida still must face Georgia, S. Carolina, BAMA, LSU and defending National Champion Auburn. While UT plays Georgia, S. Carolina, BAMA, LSU, Arkansas. At 3-0, Vandy is having a good year but is still little Vandy, and Kentucky just lost to instate hoops rival Louisville. The undefeated S. Carolina Gamecocks appear to have the inside tract to a repeat but must face tough competition in Auburn, Mississippi State, Arkansas,Tennessee and Florida. And the Gamecocks have only one ten-win season in school history. While Georgia has struggled for two-plus seasons, UGA has still averaged nearly ten wins per season under head coach Mark Richt (9.5 per). In the next four games, Georgia gets Ole Miss coming off a big loss to Vandy, two-loss Miss State in Athens, a UT team they blew out 41-14 last season and a Vandy program they beat 43-0 last year. Three of those four are on the road, yet all appear quite winnable. Dawgs would be 5-2 with a bye week, before facing the Mighty Gators in Jacksonville for the Cocktail Party. A must-win for Richt; he has beaten them only twice in ten seasons.
