DAWGS Recruiting for Next Year

University of Georgia 2013 Football Early Commits:

UGA recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner is off to a good early start to 2013.

1. WR/DB – Trammel Terry, 6-0, 185; Goose Creek, SC – Top-rated high school football player in the state of South Carolina.

2. RB – Derrick Henry, 6-3, 241; Yulee, FL – Big power back out of Sunshine State.

3. DB – Shaq Wiggins, 5-10, 160; Sandy Creek (H.S.) – Diminutive speedster is super-athletic but must add size to regularly compete in SEC.

4. DB – Steven Nelson, 6-0, 185; JUCO Transfer – Ready to play; may be a nickel back as true freshman.

5. DT – Chris Mayes, 6-4, 295; JUCO Transfer – Ready to play as potential successor to Geathers and Jenkins in middle of Grantham’s 3-4 D. Not as big but perhaps more agile than either.

6. S – Tray Matthews, 6-2, 205; Newnan (H.S.) – Once Rambo is in the NFL, Matthews will be called on to produce at safety. Nick Marshall no longer a Dawg, so this is key.

7. QB – Brice Ramsey, 6-4, 190; Camden County (H.S.) – First-year high school starter for state championship contender has all the physical tools and little experience.

8.  DT – DeAndre “Moose” Johnson, 6-3, 311; Northgate (H.S.) – Has had such a distinct size advantage in high school that it may take him some time to adjust to big SEC offensive lines. Moose getting loose on a QB would be opponent’s nightmare.

*As many as 7 of these 8 athletes may be eligible to enroll early, so by this time next year they would be in Athens wearing the red and black.
