Tough Loss On Plains
Cam Newton was dominant as UGA lost a shootout to Auburn 49-31 on The Plains of Alabama. Aubie will play S. Carolina for the SEC title in the GA Dome of Atlanta. This is Carolina’s first ever title game and represents a major breakthrough by Steve Spurrier.
I knew beating Auburn five years in a row was a long shot; the oldest series in the Deep South is nearly even in total points scored by the Dawgs and War Eagles/Tigers. They were the better team this season, and when UGA or Auburn has had their best teams, they’ve won this game. It’s a must-win game for a huge season for either program. This is just Auburn’s year.
AJ Green was the second best player on the field today and played huge, Cam was that good and he’s done it all year and will take it to Bama in the Iron Bowl and Carolina for the SEC rings. Then Cam will take it to the pros, so will AJ. The 3rd best player on the field may have also been a junior, Auburn DT Nick Fairley, a certain pro draft pick and cheap shot artist. Aaron Murray was probably the 4th best player in this explosive game, and he will be back at Georgia for at least the next two seasons. GEORGIA will rise again.
SEC play is over, and the Dawgs have a week off before playing Tech in the Classic City. We must win to extend the bowl streak to fourteen years and run our ten-year record against Georgia Tech to 9-1. GO DAWGS!
