UGA-Boise State Primetime Tilt for Kickoff Classic

The Boise State Broncos may very well be coming off two undefeated seasons in a row when they open the 2011 season versus the University of Georgia Bulldogs, in the GA Dome of Atlanta. Currently ranked number 4 in the BCS, there is an outside chance that Boise will be the defending national champion. Regardless, this will be a tough contest for a struggling UGA program coming off an ugly six-loss campaign (thus far), which followed an in many ways even uglier five-loss season last year. The Dawgs and Mark Richt are in desperate need of a signature win, after winning only one big game in several years (the upset of ACC champ Tech last season in ATL).

This will be a truly huge game and could springboard UGA to a big season…or signal the beginning of the end for Mark Richt as head coach, as the Georgia alumni and fan base demand immediate marked improvement. Should UGA beat an average Tech team this season in Athens, pushing Richt’s record versus Tech to 9-1 and finish with a bowl win, pushing Richt’s bowl mark to 8-2, we would finish above .500. The negative noise around the program would be somewhat quieted, at least until the next loss.
