Diamond Dawgs Take Tech at The Ted
UGA did much of their damage to 9th-ranked Georgia Tech in the 4th inning and then added an insurance run late, which proved unnecessary as the DAWGS beat their arch rival Yellow Jackets by 2 runs in front of over 18,000 fans. Tech beat Georgia in 2 earlier match-ups this season, so the UGA football-basketball-baseball sweep was narrowly missed. 13 total pitchers were used in Atlanta tonight, as Georgia’s Tyler Maloof eventually got the save – his 14th on 14 save attempts this season. The 9th annual Spring Classic at Turner Field was again a resounding success for a Georgia baseball program coming off a rare down year and tough early season. Facing perhaps the strongest schedule in the country, UGA has now won 3 games in a row, as well as 4-of-6 SEC series. This team is gelling at the right time and may be really ready to rock-and-roll by the time postseason play rolls around, starting with the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. I’d like to remind Tech that we’ve won 9-of-10 in football, in a football state called GEORGIA. GO DAWGS!
