Now, It’s Really Football Season

After the Hoop Dawgs were bounced from the first round after late selection for the NCAA basketball tournament, Georgia fans found focus on spring football and an impending rebound from Coach Mark Richt’s first ever losing season (6-7). The baseball program, up and down all season, suddenly surged onto the radar of the average Georgia fan with some big wins in the SEC tournament and late selection of their own to the NCAAs. An overall gallant effort by the Diamond Dawgs fell short as host Oregon State pushed past Georgia Saturday night and won the region. Baseball season is over, and the focus of the Bulldog Nation is squarely on sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray and the football Dawgs, opening with Boise State in my hometown of Atlanta on September 3rd.
